Welcome to the Heart Transplantation Course by Luciano Potena

This course was created by Luciano Potena with support from contributors Cristiano Amarelli, Maria Frigerio, Ivan Knezevic, Andreas Zuckermann, Ornella Leone, Daniel Zimpfer, Josebe Goirigolzarri, and Marco Masetti.

In order to qualify for the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) credits, you are expected to complete the EACCME Self-assessment. You will find this assessment under the tab "EACCME Self-Assessment" in each module. After you have made the assessment, you will receive the certificate by email. Although recommended for further educational development, if you do not wish to collect EACCME® credits, please note that none of the quizzes are compulsory. You may freely navigate the course in any order at your leisure. Finally, to accompany some of the lectures and presentations, a selection of author-suggested e-books, congress highlights and publications are also available.

Educational objective(s)

This course will provide an opportunity to advance your knowledge on heart transplantation, from developing foundation knowledge to building on advanced skills. We will cover a range of topics, from management of heart failure, decision making with patients lists, surgical techniques to the journey of a patient biopsy. CME Accreditation

This course, made available on www.ESOTTransplantlive.org and organised by ESOT, is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to award 8 European CME credit (ECMEC). Each medical specialist should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS). Only those e-learning materials that are displayed on the UEMS-EACCME website have formally been accredited.

All author and the course editor have declared that they have no conflicts of interest in relation to the material in this course. The production of this course was funded entirely by ESOT. No external sponsorship was received. The material used in this course was prepared in 2017.
